Anti-Cheat & Reporting

How MistyMC handles cheaters — the anticheat, the manual review process, and how to file a clean report.

We take cheating seriously, but we don’t trust automated bans alone. Here’s how the system actually works.

The anticheat

MistyMC runs a custom anticheat plugin built on top of public detection patterns and tuned for our gamemodes. It catches:

  • Reach (auto-clicker reach extensions, modified hitboxes)
  • KillAura (auto-aim, target-locking)
  • Speed / Velocity hacks
  • Anti-knockback
  • Fly / NoFall in non-creative worlds
  • X-ray pattern detection (long-running, not instant ban)
  • Auto-soup and macro detection in Soup PvP

Detected players are flagged. Severe flags trigger automatic kicks. Repeated or high-confidence flags trigger temporary bans pending review.

Why we don’t auto-perma-ban

Anticheats false-positive. Lag spikes look like speed hacks. High ping looks like reach. We’ve seen people banned by other servers for the crime of having a 200ms ping.

So:

  • Auto-bans are temporary (24h initial) — they buy time for review
  • A staff member reviews the flag patterns + match replay
  • Confirmed cheating → permanent ban
  • Confirmed false positive → unban, ELO restored, apology

Reporting

If something looks off, file a report. Reports help us tune the anticheat. Even if it turns out to be a false alarm, your data is useful.

In-game

/report <player> <reason>

This auto-attaches the last 30 seconds of replay data and any active flags on that player. Don’t write essays — cheating, reach hacks is fine.

Discord

For serious or repeated cases, open a ticket in #staff-tickets on Discord. Include:

  1. Player IGN
  2. Approximate time (your timezone is fine)
  3. Gamemode
  4. What they were doing
  5. Optional: clip / screenshot

Appeal a ban

If you were banned and you didn’t cheat:

  1. Open #ban-appeals on Discord
  2. Use the appeal form template
  3. Don’t argue, don’t insult — staff are unpaid and will close belligerent appeals
  4. Wait 24h for first response

Appeals from confirmed cheaters are denied. Appeals from people who got caught between cheating and not cheating are also denied — we don’t believe in “I only cheated a little”.
